George Bryan, Company Director – Drayton Manor

George has over 25 years’ experience of working in the leisure industry at Drayton Manor.

He has held positions and activities ranging from sweeping floors, cleaning tables at 12 years old, cooking burgers, and serving ice cream, to managing
the zoo, security, grounds, and facilities manager, and then eventually becoming company director.

In that time, George has overseen the company grow to 1.2 million visitors, becoming a national brand and a staycation destination.

Richard Liddle, Managing Director – Worldwide Kids

Leading Worldwide Kids since 2009, Richard began his career working for various tour operators in resort destinations. After a stint in hospitality recruitment, he then joined Worldwide Kids with the goal of becoming the world’s leading hospitality childcare consultancy.

Specialising in the development of childcare facilities and services for hotels and resorts, Worldwide Kids delivers bespoke concepts, design, equipment, SOPs, activities, recruitment, accredited training and operations. Worldwide Kids has worked in Europe, Caribbean, Asia, and the Middle East – so far.


Peter Simpson, Director – Space & Place

Peter is a director of S&P with 30 years’ experience in the design of waterparks and pools. Peter’s involvement in leisure water design began with S&P with the design and building of Romsey Rapids and Coral Reef Blackwell in 1988.

In 1990 Peter joined Fitch to lead the Lakewood Waterpark team in Cumbria and re-joined S&P in 1992. His role was then expanded into larger internal waterpark design with the Butlin’s Waterworld developments of Skegness, Bognor and Minehead completed in 2000, integrating Master Blaster and FlowRider rides into S&P designs for commercial and local authority clients.

More recent completed projects at Redcar High Wycombe and St Albans have shown the growing popularity of water leisure with new design being developed for Belfast, Crawley, and Drayton Manor.

As a director of S&P he recognises the renewed public interest in exciting leisure water and the recent expansion of the range of features available.

Mark Albertine, President – OpenAire Inc.

Mark Albertine has over twenty-five years of experience in all facets of the aluminum and glass construction industry, as well as performing various roles in Marketing and Finance for organizations such as CTG and General Foods. Utilizing this experience and his desire to create a truly unique design and construction firm, Mark founded OpenAire in 1989.

Under Mark’s leadership as President, OpenAire has developed custom retractable enclosure and operable roof systems for a myriad of applications all over the world. The company has achieved an unprecedented track record of customer satisfaction through constant research and innovation. OpenAire’s structural quality and performance, reliability and aesthetic beauty are unequaled in the market.

Tom Pinnington, Director – The Sports Consultancy

Tom Pinnington is a Director at The Sports Consultancy. Tom has over 15 years’ experience working on the development of large-scale community leisure facilities, typically with capital costs of between £5m – £40m. Tom offers a wealth of experience in high profile sport and leisure assignments for clients across the UK and overseas. Clients include commercial operators, public sector bodies, local authorities, governing bodies of sport, universities and sports clubs.

The Sports Consultancy was established in 2006 and has 35 employees based in central London. It is a market leading consultancy specialising in facility strategy, feasibility, options appraisal, business planning and leisure operator procurement.


Roger Currie, Director of Business Development – Neuman Aqua Ltd.

Roger has over 40 years’ experience in the Aquatic Leisure Industry. Currently, he fronts the Water Technology projects in Europe and Euro Asia, also supporting the specialist design build projects delivered by Neuman Aqua Ltd, focusing on new-build developments and the rapidly growing expansion/retrofi t sector.

Roger served a 20-year career with Biwater Ltd, gaining experience in construction, operations and manufacturing within the worldwide water industry, before leaving to set up the aquatic leisure consultancy company, Royson Ltd in 1996. In 2005 he established his role with Aqua Leisure International, combining it with the formation of Neuman Aqua Ltd 2011.

He is a regular Speaker at international conventions and at previous IAAPA Forums, a writer of industry articles and has sat on a number of Industry Standards advisory boards. Roger served a two-term role on the World Waterpark Associations Board of Directors 2004-10, and was inducted into the Hall of Fame 2016. He is a member of the Institute of Swimming Pool Engineers and also the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity.

Michael Groves, Consultant Engineer – Aquatic Facility Ventilation and Air Quality

Michael advises operators and design teams on how to achieve optimum environmental conditions for indoor aquatic projects with water attractions thereby ensuring the best air quality and health outcome, whilst minimising energy costs.

Previously, Michael was Director of Menerga Ltd and Menerga International GmbH, specialising in the sale and service of low energy ventilation units for swimming pool halls and water parks during a 35-year career in the industry.

Michael has spoken at various World Water Park Association symposia and was an active contributor to the Model Aquatic Health Code (United States, 2014).
